You have to get a crapple graphics card. Mac hardware has still some differences.

I had a clean win7 install. It's a few hours work, reinstalling all the applications, but it's worth the 64bit version.

If it's a studio machine you can put whatever you want into them. The G/Pro series have been that way for a long time. All the compressed form factor offerings have integrated Nvidia chips, so there isn't a separate videocard to begin with.

If you can stick any old hardware part into a Mac desktop, then why doesn't Apple offer its OS to PC users? Actually, the better question is, why wouldn't I be able to install Snow Leopard on my laptop instead of Windows if all the hardware is identical?

You can; there is a work-around to run OSX on mainstream desktop/laptop platforms.

There are a multitude of reasons why Apple try to keep it brand exclusive: many would argue that it's based solely upon greed, some eschew the issue by presenting other factors, but this is a whole nother' debate.

The only problem you might run into is touchpad compatibility. This is because the mac machines use gestures and have an area you depress to click. With a mouse this would not be an issue.

The network adapter could present a tertiary issue, but I am not sure about this.

Integrated Network adapter doesnt work in most cases, I dont think there is any support for soundcards so you'd have to use integrated or a USB one

That the scroll doesn't work is a driver issue.

And it doesn't look like a Mac, looks more like KDE.

The two OS are distinct enough, but there's the whole convergence of technology theorem...there is typically one best solution to a problem, so eventually companies are going to converge toward that solution.

I think you'll also find that Win 7 is fairly customizable.

I do enjoy Windows 7. It works a lot smoother than Vista. Only a couple days of playing with it I have yet to really tame it and play with all of the new features, but I am digging it so far. Any points of interest I should pay special attention to?

Windows 7 is cool because it came with that anime girl theme in Japan and that's totally cool.

Isn't that cool I think that's cool.

God DAMNIT!!!

Why do they do this shit?

So, the $30 version of Win7 doesn't come as a .iso file and the extractor is fucked up. As a result i have spent 3 hrs trying to figure out why it won't save the file to my specified directory. Finally i have given up and done some research on the issue and found that it is a known problem and i need to fake it into saving and then create my own .iso with an entirely different program.

Windows key + arrows (minimizing, maximizing and put a windows to desktop side (split half).

Windows key + Space
Windows key + L (lock pc)

And you can do funny things with the text to voice app.

Mine saved just fine as an .iso file. I only did the 32-bit tho. I also didn't buy it from Microsoft, or buy if at all. My school is giving away copies for "educational puposes only". So that's what I said and got it. I can also get 2 more copies. For educational purposes....hahahahahaha.

Well apparently the problem is caused by trying to unpack the 64bit OS files into a 32bit OS. EVEN IF YOU ARENT TRYING TO INSTALL IT, it still won't unpack properly. So after it "unpacks" and gives you an error you can use a 3rd party software to create a .iso which you can burn to a DVD and then use as a boot disk for Win 7 to upgrade XP 32bit, vista and so on.

Another funny thing about it is that it will load a blank screen and just sit there for like 20 minutes with no indication of anything happening. I did this a few times and got frustrated and left the room to come back like an hour later and find that it had actually finished loading the instalation procedure and was waiting on my OK command. LOVE IT.

Still this is about on par with all the problems i have had with all the other MS operating systems over the years. Good ole slipstreaming SP2 into my WinXP disk so that i could install it on my new computer with SATA HDDs. These are the things that make us PC users so superior to Mac users.

I thought you weren't able to upgrade XP to Windows 7.
